Beckett Raw Card Review

Does anyone have experience with Beckett's Raw Card Review service?

If I understand it right, it is basically an inexpensive pre-grade to help you decide if a card is worth submitting for "real" grading.

I'm mainly wondering if the Raw Card evaluation was in line with what you then received from BGS? Or whether the card came back with a grade significantly different?

Anyone have any experience here?

I've never sent anything to Beckett for grading, I don't grade cards. However, all this sounds like to me is a way for Beckett to squeeze as much money out of it's customers as possible.

Seems to me the more you ship the card around, the more likely the eventual grade would be lower with all the extra handling involved.

That's true. They are doing the RCR service at this show I'm going to tomorrow.

Why have it raw graded when you can tell within reason what a card should grade close to? Like was stated above, youll be paying to have the same card graded twice

Not sure what value of the card you are grading but unless it something special I would never have it graded at a show. As the prices to grade the normal services are like 20 to 30 bucks. Way beyond what one would spend on a card alone let grade it.

P.S. Best bet would be to send a few in bulk to get them under 10 dollars to Beckett. They are the best with a few other tops companies to get graded but all in all why spend the money unless your going to resell the card. It might be worth while if you plan on reselling it but a Raw grading service might help you to confirm your grading diagnosis in line with what Beckett thinks. Only reason Iwould try raw grading to make sure you know what your talking about when you grade a card.
