Graded Packs?
I was reading through a Tuff Stuff magazine today and noticed PSA had a “Graded Pack” promotion. I found that odd! Are there a lot of Pack collectors? What does it matter is the pack is a “PSA 9” if it is encased and you can’t open it!

Well Mike it all goes back to what peopel are willing to pay for. As the packs get graded just like the cards do. How has the packed age with time (discoloration), folds flush on the back, no significant marks (only allowable small printing spots), etc. as any of those and other reasons can drop it dramatically.
Now with Cello Packs this would definitely boost a card price when you have someone good. As the card on top goes into consideration along with the bottom.
Now as with all things why do they want this service card market is drying up and people complain about paying $300 a pack. Now you got grading services charing 15 or 20 dollars for pack grading. Some people will do it and many are clamoring for 75 topps mini's and other products that are not being graded at this time. They need to keep the dollars floating in so they are looking at other ways to make REVENUE.
In the end is it any different than grading cards as all they have to do is change the holder and they get more dollars on top of the normal grading service. Sounds like a winner to me even if the percentages is small.
P.S. Perhaps someone will chime in that does pack grading though it not my cup of tea until you want to sell your packs on the bay.
