NASA plans permanent base on the moon
If you have ever wanted to live on the moon you have about 12 years to start preparing to become part of NASA.
NASA said on Monday it plans to build a permanently occupied base on the moon, most likely at the lunar north pole.
The habitat will serve as a science outpost as well as a testbed for technologies needed for future travel to Mars, and construction will follow a series of flights to the moon scheduled to begin by 2020.
"We're going for a base on the moon," Scott "Doc" Horowitz, NASA's associate administrator for exploration, told reporters in a teleconference from the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

I think it's a good idea but who will control the Science when it is legally outside of the earth? Can a Scientist control themselves or make the right decisions when they think they are on the verge of a break thru? Will another gov't try to keep up with us? If so will we have some sort of agreement for intergalaxy travel. Will this also mean we can claim a planet if we land there first or does it mean nothing. Do many variables to actually make an educated guess/decision in this early stage of the game.
