Iran with Nukes?
Iran annonced today that it expanded its Uranium Enrichment program.
Iran has begun installing 3,000 centrifuges in an expansion of its uranium enrichment program that brings the Islamic nation significantly closer to large-scale production of nuclear fuel, the president said Saturday. In a country like Iran where they are swimming in oil, does anyone actually believe they need nuclear power? Also, does anyone think that Israel will sit by and allow a country that stated it will, "wipe Israel of the map," develop a nuclear weapon's program?
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also claimed that the international community was caving in to Tehran's demands to continue its nuclear program.
"Resistance of the Iranian nation in the past year forced them to retreat tens of steps over the Iran's nuclear issue," the semi-official Fars agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. Fars is considered to be close to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards.
We are more than likely heading for worse times in the Middle East regardless of what happens in Iraq.

Iran is posturing to be the central power in the region amidst the Sunni Shia strife in Iraq and the failed US unilateral military policy. Their rhetoric is certainly aggressive and violently inflammatory and they view OURS SIMILARLY. Iran has the wealth and military to back up what it says. We should take seriously their positions yet also be keenly aware of how they can help to aid stabilizing the situation. If we see them as yet another enemy before we explore diplomatic talks, understandings and agreements THAT would most certainly lead to the worst case scenario.
Iran Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki claimed U.S. troops were responsible for at least half the violence tearing apart Iraq and that their departure would pay security dividends for the entire region.
"If the United States changes its attitude, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help with the withdrawal from Iraq," Mottaki told the International Institute of Strategic Studies conference here. "Fifty percent of the problem of insecurity in Iraq is the presence of foreign troops."
Mottaki echoed calls made last week by Iran's top national security official, Ali Larijani, for Gulf Arab countries to eject American bases in their countries and establish a regional security pact with Iran. Mottaki went further and offered deeper cooperation with the six Gulf Arab states on energy, tourism, business and counter-narcotics.1
Are we unable to explore these statements because of the oil in the region which we fervently pursue at such a high human cost?
Are we unable to begin a relationship with Iran accepting their position in t because of our empirical desires in the region?
We must ask ourselves these questions so that we may cultivate the beginnings of peace in the region. We must simultaneously address the peace process regarding Palestine and Israel.
We are in the position to LEAD the resolution of these crisis and at the same time protect our soldeirs and homeland.
They are the real heros who we must cherish and attend to by EXPLORING ALL POSSIBLE RESOLUTIONS WITHOUT FEAR AND DEMONIZING.

And Democrats are what??? Oh yeah..they are in favor of it until it benefits them to be against it...they aren't sure how they are against it or what they would do differently...BUT BY GOSH!! It's the republicans FAULT!! PLEASE!!
Iran with nukes is a bad thing as they will assuredly get to North Korea before long and North Korea have already been found to sell arms to terrorist groups and even thought Nukes would certainly kill millions, terrorists have shown they are more then willing to die.
It isn't Bush's fault, it isn't democrats fault, it isn't even Iran's fault, this has been in the process of happening for hundreds of years....

We will all learn a lot in the next two years...The only way to make anything positive happen will be bipartisan governent and leadership.... I hope for all of our sake, that we can truly all get along and work together for the common goals of safety and security in these stressful times.

All I can say is that you all better pay attention to the show Jericho. That's what it will be like if and when terrorists get their hands on dirty bombs. they don't give a hoot if they die in the process, it's taking them to their maker where they want to be. It's better to stop it now in it's place then to deal with it when the first one goes off. And for all to think it won't happen....stop being so naive.

After 9.11, I don't think there are many who are not aware of the grim realities that we face. All the more reason to get working TOGETHER on the solution.
