    A Blockbuster

As the first half of the season begins to wind down, teams are looking to make some trades. Two contending, but not contending teams, swapped 8 players. Those teams were the Warriors and the Pacers.

Sent to the Pacers was: An inconsistent scorer in Mike Dunleavy, a good rebounder and scorer in Troy Murphy, a decent back up point guard in Keith McCloud, and a blossoming big man in Ike Diogu.

Sent to the Warriors was: Disgruntled veteran Stephen Jackson, and defensive stopper in Al Harrington, an assist man in Sarunas Jasikevicius , and an undrafted forward in Josh Powell.

The trade does help both teams, but I think that the Warriors came up with the better side of the trade. They got rid of two big contracts in Dunleavy and Murphy, and got rid of Ike Diogu who had fallen out with his head coach.

The trade makes a lot of sense for both teams, your thoughts?

It's a great trade for my boy Biedrins ;) More pt and makes him the only viable option at C....unless you count Foyle as still an option.

In some respects I am shocked. Dunleavy was drafted #3 and admittedly had trouble living up to expectations in Oakland. Murphy is totally solid when healthy and, I thought, a Nellie favorite. Couldn't really get a read on the Diogu falling out, but whenever I saw him play, I saw the heart and abilities of a winner. So from that standpoint I'm very surprised.
Here in the Bay Area we've been waiting for a winning GS team for A LONG TIME. We had high hopes for the Mike Montgomery regime, but it never even really got off the ground. With Nellie's return we were re-invigorated only to begin to witness the same underachieving, inconsistent 4 quarters of play as usual. This shakeup is, in the end welcome for the reason stated above the salary room created, and the diversity and quality of the players obtained. I wish the departed well and hope that they shine under the awesome eye of the Larry Bird Pacers.

I agree, Andris Biedrins has a more chances now than ever. I also like the idea of him not being the only shot blocker that the Warriors have. With Al Harrington being there as tag team with Biedrins on the defensive end, we should see a lot of improvement for Biedrins. But, Al Harrington could play Center as well, in case Biedrins doesn't make the transition.

usually only one or two players that actually see the court get traded. nice. maybe a preview of a great trading season.

Good trade for GS in my eyes.

As far as this starting a big trading season, hopefully your right. Now, if my Cavs can just get rid of Eric Snow and Leisure Suit Larry (Hughes), we'll be all set.

I'm hoping the Kings decide to finally trade Mike Bibby and Brad Miller. Both are past their prime, especially Brad Miller, but could be valuable assets to a contending team. I think it should be a big trading season, as the last block buster trade was right before the trade deadline(Chris Webber).

In trading Miller and Bibby do you think Petrie should seek to fill their respective roles or ask current Kings to step up? Should he seek to add to the skills the Kings already have, or diversify and deepen them? Should he trade with an eye on this season or coming seasons?

I definately think there are some huge voids needing to be filled. We need a new point guard, Jason Kidd, and a new center. But I do think we have a very good rookie guard waiting in the wings, Quincy Douby. He's just not ready to be a starter yet, which is why bringing in a mentor like J.Kidd makes so much sense. We have no other Center to fill in for Miller, so that definately needs to be addressed.

Don't you think it makes sense to fill the center spot as a higher priority than dumping Bibby? Isn't Bibby already a 'mentor' to Douby? Bibby was a leader of the team...what has changed?
Which teams could benefit from having Miller?
