I take a little offense to this statement. HUGE PORTIONS are CRIMINALS. Okay what facts are you using to base this as this is one of the worst things you can do as your LABELING BIG TIME.
I done manual labor in farms and you know what I worked with Immigrants over 20 years ago. I am proud of my work ethic but the immigrants work ethic is easily better than most americans. I say this from being in the fields in Minnesota picking beans, cabbage, stones, and stuff for several years during the 80's. Where they ILLEGAL hell yeah but needless to say they were doing work that no one wanted to do for $3.35 a hour like I did as I was a teen.
Now I live in Kentucky and I watched literally hundred of houses go up in my subdivison. Hmm, guess what I watched a WHOLE MEXICAN crew one guy spoke English the rest spoke Spanish as I know a little. Unlike American workers they were there for 12 hours each day and even on Sunday in some instances. That house was framed in less than 2 weeks and not one crew in the neighborhood could compete with that time. I am not saying they did the best job but they did it the fastest and that what BUILDERS want (Cheap labor).
I think illegal immigration is a widespread problem but I do not think that Amercians want to do the dirty work of Farm Labor, Housekeeping, etc. as I can give numerous example. I work at a Toyota and there a crew outside firm that comes in and cleans all of our machines. The guy hired 28 employees and you know what he only had 2 people that kept coming back (2 latino girls). HMM, and I saw a lot of the other people elderly whites, young kids, and who is left the illegals. So they don't want the jobs and that job pays more than minimum wage.
Correct the problem and call for a wage increase fine but you better be ready for a increase across the board of all price indexes. As you fluctuate one you fluctuate all of them. Most of you will be screaming and complaining like babies when you have grocery bills goes up from 100 to 200, your house goes from 150,000 to 200,000, and the list goes on and on.

That might have been slightly inflammatory. Not every one of the illegals but how about just the criminals then. I had just read the article citing the criminals they were arresting. Not good people and if they are illegal they already have a leg up on hiding.
I can't fault their work ethic but I can fault people having no pride in thier workmanship. I live 11 miles from the border and wasn't trying to say everyone of them is bad but there is a better way or at least I would hope there is.
By the way my house already cost me $319k.
I know they do the hard labor I see them doing the fields and think everytime I drive by, Thank god that's not me.
I am all for the minimum wage going up, I am surprised people can make it living on those wages.

...supply and demand. There is a huge demand for cheap labor but the only real SUPPLY is folks trying to get themselves out of a bad situation and are willing to WORK HARD to do it.
I have worked as a cook and chef for twenty-five years (since age sixteen). Of the hundreds of people I've worked with and supervised the standouts and hardest workers, and those whom I could ABSOLUTELY COUNT ON WHEN THE ™™™™ HIT THE FAN, were in the country illegally. Many would rent a room and sleep on the floor so that they could send money back to their country and give their families a better life. Morally that is commendable, (although legally wrong). They looked around and saw people working the system and they worked it to, so that their families could have a hope of a better life. HARD TO FIND FAULT IN THAT, EH?

Gerald,
That been my experience over and over. As I wish the majority of the legal workers in all jobs had their work ethic. Of course I think perhaps down the road over the centuries when they are legal they will become like us. As if you looked back in the 1800's and 1900's are work ethic has become so sad compared to what the country was founded on.
