A question about Clinton and Obama
It is painfully obvious who the press would like to see as President in 2008. In the past few months I have NEVER seen so many interviews, covers of magazines and other free press as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have gotten.
My biggest questions are:
1. Other than being married to Bill Clinton, what qualifications does Hillary Clinton have to be ANYTHING in politics? If she was not married to Bill Clinton she would just be a lawyer in Arkansas.
2. Other than being black and a Democrat, what has Obama ever done besides visit his "roots" in Africa?
3. In 200 and 2004, 9 of 10 people in the media (editors, newspaper writers, etc) voted for Gore and Kerry and it looks like the trend will continue. Where is the press time for Giuliani, McCain and Romney?
Our press is by far the most biased medias in the world, on both sides. When will we have a media that is unbiased?

Mike,
It just like any business the people that run it can do what they want correct. As was it not time warner that was sold from the family and shifted focus of it values to the left. Now the heirs that sold it are looking to buy it back and at a discount. Hmm, sounds too good to be true but it was in the paper. Not sure if it was Time Warner but was a interesting read.
p.s. You probably will know what I am talking about and expound.

i dont know a lot about politics but the few mins I watched of the presidential state of the union address, Obama looked like he was sleeping through it...he had his head down and looked so disinterested...I dont care if the President is of your party or not, if your a member of Congress or any part of government for that matter, you better be paying attention and you better at least be appearing like your interested in what whats going on...

I am tired of the narrow choices in politics. You mention the press being biased toward Democrats and I think very little seperates the two parties and, depending on the special interests behind the issue, both will do whatever big money wants them to do. It is time to open up our system to other parties and allow the opportunities to represent a wider segment of the REAL population of the country. I haven't felt represented by either party in a LONG TIME.

I'm not a big Hilary fan, she is to leftist for me, but I do like Obama. You mentioned press time for Giuliani, my question is: Other than being white and Mayor of NYC, what has he done? There is a bias in television and print media but it swings both ways.

That is a pretty good summation of it. Politicians go where the money is. It would be nice to see a legitimate third party contender enter the scene but the way the system is setup makes it damn near impossible.

Good point! I would love to see a change and a party in the middle myself. I am more of a Libertarian than a Republican.
Other than being white and Mayor of NYC, what has he done?
1. Lead New York and America after 9-11
2. Time Man of the Year
3. Long history of running the largest city in America
That is just of the top of my head. What I like about him is the right Wing of the Republican party hate him. He is too moderate for them!
Again, he has had many years of experience running one of the largest cities in the world and by far the largest budget in the world. What has Hillary or Obama managed other than a staff off 50 people? The was the problem with Howard Dean. He was governor of one of the smallest states in the US and had no real managerial experience.
Americans have a history of NOT electing Senators because they have NO experience managing people or budgets.
Again, where would Hillary Clinton be if she were not married to Bill Clinton? Where would Obama be if he we not black and a Democrat? Without doing any research can anyone tell me?

You could say that the political alliance which the Cintons forged when they were married (a shrewd and cognitive decision by both, I think), strengthens both in their weak spots. Hillary gives direction and boundries to the hyper-intellectual and social personality which is Bill's, and he gives creative energy to her rigid perceived 'cold' personality and less than gregarious nature. As with any marraige, they come as a pair.
Whether she has enough 'managerial' or leadership experience to lead the country in this contentious time, at this point I haven't spoken with anyone who can comfortably say 'yes'. They say that she is unelectable. Yet, with the team that they together, I'm sure that they have forseen this perception and have a smart counter-strategy. This is Bill's strength, and recall that Carl Rove is out of the picture for the GOP. I think that the major reason that Gore fell short (did he?) in '00 was because he distanced himself from any campaigning strategies which he could have benefitted from with a Clinton name linked to it.

let me cast a lighter side to this debate...Bill Clinton back in the white house for another 4 yrs at least....no official trappings and duties that come with being the president....Hillary better bring in all male interns.

America joined together after 9/11. Alf could have done the same job Rudy did in NYC. Man of the Year: now there is an accomplishment. A magazine said he was Man of the Year, let me kneel at his feet. Please. Arnold is turning California around after that sub-genius Davis screwed it up. That is an accomplishment. Getting up on a podium and saying we are all New Yorkers is not.
