The De Vinci Code: How much is true?
I have yet to read the book yet, but did see the movie last week while in South Korea.
The movie brought up some good points. I don’t think that there are two organizations battling each other over control of the Church, but to subscribe to the idea that men influenced the bible, Koran and other religious books to control populations.
I think Muslims and Christians believe blindly in a book that was written by men who took the word of other men. Also, these men gained considerable power.
I am not saying religion is bad. What I am asking is the De Vinci Code brings up a lot of good points for discussion!
Thoughts?

I think the book should be seen as what it is, complete fiction. There are good points, I too believe that religion is a form of controling it's followers, but it was meant for entertainment purposes. That's not to say that we shouldn't question works like the Bible, but that doesn't mean the book is proof of anything.

Two points. First, long before the Bible was put into written form, it was an oral tradition passed on by storytellers and men invested in the spread of its ideology. Second, when it was finally scribed only the elite had the resources and education to transmit its ideology and thus had tremendous control over the final language and form.
Clearly the movie and story are submitted for your entertainment and should always be discussed in that context. The questions and intrigue that they bring up are for the purpose of perpetuating its fictional value as saleable entertainment.
