Redskins Make Offer to Briggs
The Redskins have reportedly made a formal contract offer to Lance Briggs that would include $20 million in guaranteed money.
The deal would reportedly pay $7.5 million-per-season, more than the $7.2 million Briggs will get if he signs his one-year franchise tender. A trade isn't considered imminent, but the proposal seems large enough to make the Briggs side happy. It's now up to the Bears and whether they're willing to part with Briggs and the No. 31 pick for the sixth choice overall. Mar. 28 - 7:39 pm et

The Bears have initially said no to a trade that would send Lance Briggs to Washington.
It's a good deal for Chicago, but the Bears don't like feeling "bullied" or rushed into a deal by Drew Rosenhaus' frontal media assault. They will continue to think about the deal, but may not want to pay the salary of such a high draft pick

BEARS TELL 'SKINS TO GET BENTSeveral days after receiving an offer of the No. 6 overall pick in the draft in exchange for linebacker Lance Briggs and the No. 31 overall selection, the Chicago Bears have responded to the Washington Redskins. The Bears have said "no thanks," according to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.The 'Skins emerged as a candidate last week in conjunction with the league meetings in Arizona. Few league observers expected the Bears to accept the offer. Most, however, anticipated that Chicago would make a counterproposal, possibly by asking that a player like linebacker Rocky McIntosh be added to the deal.In Chicago, Briggs remains a free agent who is restrained by the franchise tag. He can sign an offer sheet with any other team. If, however, the Bears choose not to match, the Bears will be entitled to two first-round picks.
