Packers make an offer for Larry Johnson
PACKERS MAKING A PLAY FOR L.J.?Scout.com is reporting that the Packers have offered a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick to the Chiefs for running back Larry Johnson. If true, the report is a stunner. Packers G.M. Ted Thompson doesn't like to pay big money to strangers to the team, and it's going to take really big money to keep Johnson beyond 2007, the last year of his rookie deal. And if an offer that big has been made to the Chiefs for Johnson's rights, the Packers surely have reached a tentative agreement with Johnson's agent on a long-term deal. Otherwise, the Packers would be picking up Johnson for only one season before having to either use the franchise tag or let him walk away.

if the chiefs gm is retarded enough to trade away the entire offense, and let loose the only experienced qb on the team...I'd have to say he's been hanging around matt millen way way too much.

well...i know i said in another story jeff started i didnt believe the chiefs were really shopping him, im beginning to think maybe his attitude is why they are.
ive heard he wants more $$ then Tomlinson, and he is going into his final year of his rookie contract, so he will be wanting HUGE $$ next year. So I dont know...im starting to think if they got the right offer they may deal him...GB's #1 would put them around Marshawn Lynch range, they still have their 1st, and then ands extra 4th...im not saying id do it but...its tempting if you don't think youll resign him next year.

True but what the chiefs are just going to play rookie tag?? Ok sign people till their contracts expire then let them go no matter how good?
Remember how he was treated as a rookie!!!! They didn't think he could handle the load since they had Priest Holmes. Plus the head coach and johnson went toe-to-toe about playing time. Holmes goes down Johnson steps in and becomes the 2-3rd best back in the league. If I was him the only way I stay in KC is if they franchise me. They got rid of the playmakers.
No wr's to speak of. Unproven Croyle can he even step in and play this year?
Hall was always good to watch on returns/punts as you never knew when he'd break one. So where does this leave this team??? In shambles basically.
Oline got hurt with one of their best retiring. Can anyone say rebuilding year????

theres a report on ESPN which a Chiefs official says the Chiefs are not shopping him or allowing him to speak with other teams...so its likely it was a false rumor

Maybe so but how many times have we seen an official say they weren't moving somebody and that the rumors are false only to that player get moved. This is the second time now from different sources siting rumors of a Johnson deal. Maybe everybody is full of it or maybe there is some truth to it. If Johnson wants the big bucks and the Chiefs aren't willing to pay it I think it would only make sense for them to get something out of it.

There was a statement by the Cheifs organization (don't remember who gave the statement). But they said there was ABSOLUTELY NO TRUTH in L.J. Being shopped.
P.S. I think he wanted the like 6 or 8 years and 50 MILLION. The figure I saw being thrown out there as L.T. money.
