Have you ever just had one of those days???

I have and I swear... I will never use the words "Can it get any worse?" ever again!!! :poundcry:

Sadly... my "one LONG day" started on monday night and hasn't given up yet. My wife coming home from work monday night had a problem with her car. It's a power steering "issue" that I haven't gotten fixed yet or even know exactly what's wrong. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's only the steering pump, that's an easy fix and is only about $120 for the pump. If it turns out that it's the rack, that's gonna be several hundred dollars to repair.

Not a problem, we can work around this. I won't need her car for over a week... my wife was going to Rochester, NY on busniess and wouldn't be back until late friday night. And on Sunday morning she will be heading to California for the week and will return the following weekend. The car won't be driven anyway so I have plenty of time to tear it down and fix it. I got it covered!

I haven't been feeling real well since about sunday. Think I have some type of stomach flu or something. I've lost 6 pounds in four days, and can't keep anything down so I made a doctors appt. and went to the doc's last night and found out I have an infection and need to be on antibiotics for the next 5 days to get rid of it. OK, not so terrible, another thing I can deal with fairly easily ($30 for the visit, $25 for the meds). On the way home from the doc's, driving down the highway near my house, the left front tire blows out. I'm mad because the tires aren't really that old and they're fairly expensive (about $170-$185 each). I found an "L" shaped cut in the sidewall. Apparently there was something in the road that I didn't see and it cut into the sidewall and driving on it caused it to blow out.

Time for the spare. Now I always check the air pressure in the spare (every couple of months) by reaching over the top of it and using a tire gauge (it's mounted under the back of the pick up truck). I got the spare out and the air pressure was good. Noted that I would need to clean and repaint the wheel though, kinda rusty looking in the center where the holder goes that keeps it under the floor of the truck.

Yesterday, my wife was "supposed" to fly out of NYC to Rochester. Her flight was at 2:45 pm, but three canceled flights later and nearly 9:00 PM... they annouced that there would be NO flights leaving that night and she would have to try in the morning. Something to do with weather issues in northern OH, PA & NY, no flights in or out. So... now the only way for her to get home was to take the train out of NYC which stops about 45 minutes from where we live. I had to drive up and pick her up. Got back and figured it was late so since I had to take her to the airport at 4'ish, I'd just stay awake and go to bed when I got home around 5'ish. She was so tired and I was worried that we'd over sleep and she'd miss her flight.

The trip to the airport went fine... she arrived on time, got through security quickly and was on her way to Rochester on time. I headed home. On the drive back everything was doing just fine until all of a sudden... the truck started shaking REALLY BAD and it made a terrible grinding noise. Luckily, I was already in the right lane and I immediately started to pull onto the shoulder (by the way... this was on Interstate 95 through Philly and I was right across from Lincoln Field (where the Eagles play) & the Wachovia Center where the 76er's and/or the Flyers play. Definately NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE BROKE DOWN!). Just as I started going to the right.... the left front wheel came off the truck and went rolling down the highway. Do you have any idea how far a tire can roll when it's not on your truck??? I do... PRETTY DAMN FAR!!!!!!

SO... now parked on the side of the road... on three wheels, the last thing I wanted to see was the CENTER of the rim still attached to my truck while the rest of the wheel was gone!

Lucky I had my cell phone with me, but the question... who do I call at 5:00 am to ask for help??? lol Did I mention that I have a really, REALLY GREAT son??? Called him and woke him (he said no problem Dad... he had to get up in 2+1/2 hours anyway...), he made some calls for me, got me a flat bed rolling out to get me and it only cost me $134 (approximate equation to a couple of boxes of racing cards... GRRRRRR!!!!) to have my truck brought home from Philly and dropped in my driveway!!!

So now, I have one car with a bad steering problem leaking oil all over the driveway, and one truck with no wheel, a broken lower ball joint and who knows what else until I look closer at it.

SO... I have no wiped those 5 little words completely from my vocabulary!!! YES... it can still get worse but I'm keeping my mouth shut and I won;t say it again!!!

And now... I'm going to bed and dream of winning the lottery!!! I better... this one long day has cost me a fortune that I don't have!!! good thing I have great parents who will float me a loan!!!

Les, your situation is a perfect example of when it rains it pours. Seems like one thing right after another goes wrong sometimes. We've all had our share of those kinds of days I'm sure. I'm sorry you've had such terrible luck. Thank God your son was there to help you out! To be broke down anywhere is never a good thing. But, like the previous poster said, it can only get better, at least that's what I tell myself when this sorta thing happens.

When I read that your tire rolled down the road the first thought that came to mind was....I wonder if the officals gave him a penalty...lol.

    Les,

I've had a few days like that...I don't recommend this to everyone but i've found that the use of a few choice 4 letter words in various combination uttered in a very loud manner can let off some steam. As far as the reason your wife's plane was canceled, there was a really nasty string of thunderstorms that rolled through ohio, pa, right on down through maryland, some hail in a few of them, one of em kicked off a twister out in ohio....we just got some wind and a good quick drenching in my neck of the woods. It'll get better

Les, WOW, talk about bad luck! I`m glad to hear when the tire came off there wasn`t a bad accident! Sounds like an experience everyone could do without. I`ve never heard of that happening before, unless you`re Kurt Busch that is. I hope that you can get everything fixed without to much damage to the wallet. Sounds like it`s cost you enough already!! I hope that you have a better tomorrow my friend!!

    Les,
Man sounds like you had some bad luck big time. As the other said I hope it gets better for you. The main thing is family and as you said your Son was there for ya. That in itself is great as some cannot vouch for that kind of relationship. As for the weather and the wife being late better late than never as safety is paramount. Never wort to take a chance even though it was inconvient. All, in all it boils down to dollars and I know it sucks but trust me been there done that and it will never end. You just had yours happen all at once and I hope it smooth sailing once you get the cars fixed.

p.s. Glad ya see the bright side of it and giving those words a Healthy dose of Respect. LOL
