Ricky Williams: Another Positive Test
Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the NFL until September, sources said.
Williams was suspended last year for violation of the substance abuse policy and was eligible to be reinstated this month, but the league's medical advisors that oversee Williams' personal rehabilitation program recently notified commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test, sources said.
The doctors also recommended that Williams not be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September, sources said. The commissioner usually adheres to the advice of the medical advisors under the substance abuse policy.
"Falling off the wagon is part of rehab," a source said. "Based on the medical evidence in Ricky's case, the doctors say it's too early to come back. He had the positive test last month. Remember, he's been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder -- that's a real disease and a good percentage of those folks self-medicate with substances like marijuana, often at the moment they are about to have a high level of social interaction."

You gotta be kiddin.... I think its time the Commissioner stepped up and banned him forever. I'm tired of hearing excuses on his behalf. POT is ILLEGAL so I could care less what medical disorder he has! He crushed Pacman Jones for a year! On just prelimanary findings. This is a trend for Ricky. I say goodbye and good riddence

All you can do is shake your head. Nothing will change this guy. Hopefully he'll just go away after this. Why should a team waste time on him when he can't put forth the effort?

George,
I hope if your spewing this on RICKY to ban him forever you saying the same about PAC MAN jones and all the others. I am not going to say Ricky is right or wrong or that one is worse than another. The problem is if RICKY spokes uses a illegal substance he hurting himself no one else (as I have not seen where he has been cited like others.)
Pac Man in one instance did not pull the trigger but created a scene that resulted in a person not WALKING for life. Walking dude is a fundamental to freedom and PAC MAN took that away from a individual. If he had that taken away from him he would be worth what to society (A BIG TURD). I hate to be harsh but that just bad a driving under the influence and RICKY as much as anyone wants to bash him he HURTING HIMSELF NOT OTHERS.
p.s. Ricky is repsonsible for himself as his doping hurts pretty much himself by not making him a role model, being able to play, to get a PAYDAY etc. Pac Man has directly hurt others and changed their lives forever so hopefully you hope PAC MAN never steps on any TURF again if that what you wish for RICKY!!

I dont think THIS commisioner is gonna allow RW in no way , shape, or form to play NFL football again. Ricky is just in this for the payday so he can buy more MJ.

What a waste of talent! Ricky Williams could have easily been a top 10 all time NFL rusher if he stayed clear of pot.

Don,
Stop taking up for this guy. You mean to tell me you get drug tested and fail THREE times your job would keep you?????
I'll say it again so Don can take off his hockey mask. Drugs are ILLEGAL!!!!
By failing a drug test how does this not shine a bad light on football???
Funny thing is if it was steriods OH CRAP, then it would really hit the fan!!
Yes he is only hurting himself, but its illegal. Who wants a drug user on their team. Remember this was the guy who QUIT football right affter the draft screwing the Dolphins somewhat.
