I just think it a sad fate of the United States when this is what is called NEWS!! Let her serve her time and she can cry and whine all she wants. Time served then release her. I bet she will learn her lesson and next time a judge says something she going to pay attention.
p.s. Mom and Dad have bailed her out time and time again. So she obviously is not stable to handle the reality of life when it not (THE RICH AND FAMOUS).

checking in here...while i agree100% with Don that its sad this is a news story...i also think your all wrong...heres why...
as a District Attorney said on one of the shows last night...your right...this does have a lot to do with money, this does have a lot to do with it being Paris...but not for the reason your bringing up...if this was a normal person, they wouldnt be wasting jail space on the person, they wouldnt even be sentanced to a day...they would be put to community service...as the guy who i heard said...there has NEVER been a case of a DUI breaking their probation in which they have gotten more then 3 days jailtime. The ONLY reason she was sentanced to anything at all is because the judge is looking for a way to show he is a tough/stickler to the law and wants to get his name out there.

Sean,
ON the quote above let me throw something at you. I think this is very off the mark. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A CASE OF A DUI BREAKING THIER PROBATION IN WHICH THEY HAVE GOTTEN MORE THEN 3 DAY JAILTIME.

Being a former policeman, I’ve seen DUI probation offenders receive anywhere between 5-90 days. I believe the presiding judge sentenced her fairly. (keep in mind Paris supporters, she could have killed someone or herself) Her celebrity status probably played a huge part in her sentencing. Not because the judge wanted to screw a celebrity, but because he may just wanted Paris and her fans to enjoy her exsistance on this planet awhile longer. Everyone needs to look at the BIG picture, drunk driving is a stupid way to DIE!!!

He mentions as you say the Judge might have been harsh but he also mentions that he has seen other OFFENDERS RECEIVE Fates of 5 to 90 days. So to say NEVER I think is a overstatement. As I found a few other posts from others professional that state what their view of the general verdict of days is. As some states are totally hard on DUI's and for some it almost AUTOMATIC JAILTIME FROM THE STUFF PRINTED ON THE NET.
Here is another quote with USUALL (NOT NEVER)
In LA, even the common man doesn't usually get the jail time on that charge. ... Nichole Richie, and their ilk, deserve to go to prison when they break laws ...

That cool no problem. It just like politicians so many things come out of their mouths and then you ask them about it again. Your taking it out of context, not for this state, or based on sex, blah blah etc.
p.s. See on the boards!!

her Mental status ect.... is a BS Celeb. Excuse used by the Sheriff when he Released Her. If hes been a Sheriff long he Knows Jails/Prisons have People on Hand to deal with these Issues. Do you know how many Mentally Unstable People are in Jail or Prison? ALOT. So this wasnt Definatly a BS Excuse, Fact is their is NO Medical Condition where a Prison of Jail will just let ya serve your time at Home. They Need to get rid of the Sheriff, my Bet is hes getting paid alot of $$ under the table so Paris gets the Best Service Possible while shes there

As you all seem to forget, this is her 3rd offense for driving under the influence, and her second offense for driving while her licenses were suspended, therfore the punishment is fit, and should have been longer in jail time.
in Most states, the mandatory sentence for a 3rd dui is 1 to 5 YRS in the State Pennitentiary, and that is a mandatory sentence which means the Judge has to impose that sentence.
And She should have been smart and not pissed off the Judge by not showing up for court.
