McNabb back on practice field...way ahead of schedule!
[imgl]http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/uploads/photos/perm/main/KNADEDMKMEGG/mcnabbb-061107.jpg[/imgl]Donovan McNabb returned to the practice field at the NovaCare Complex on Monday, marking the first time the quarterback has participated in practice since tearing his right ACL against the Tennessee Titans on November 19. "It felt great to get back out there on the field with all of the guys," said McNabb in a statement following practice. "It's just part of the rehab process and hopefully good things will continue to come. It is important to continue to monitor my progress, but also be smart about the whole situation."
McNabb's participation in Organized Team Activities was limited, as the coaches took precautions to protect the franchise quarterback. Even so, coaches and players saw enough of McNabb to give the quarterback a positive review for his first on-field action in nearly seven months.
"He looked great," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said immediately after practice. "You couldn't tell that he was gone. He's made differently I think."
McNabb's return was a welcome change for his teammates, who didn't seem to be expecting him back so soon. Several Eagles, including center Jamaal Jackson and wide receiver Reggie Brown, said they didn't know prior to Monday's OTA McNabb would be participating alongside them.
"I was surprised," Jackson said. "I was snapping the ball pre-practice and guys were like, 'Go get some snaps with Donovan.' So it was kind of a breath of fresh air seeing him out there. It was good for him just to get him out there moving around and I think he'll just build from this point on."
