    Donruss black box?

1/1 press plates are the latest fad in collecting. To me a product like this lowers the overall value of them. You can get plates of lesser known players and some well known ones for 10 bucks. What do you guys think?

I think the press plates are past their time. Its crazy to say they are 1/1 but then you have 50 different colors that are 1/1. Its getting as bad as parallels

I never saw the hype in them to be honest...but who would pay $190 for 5 pieces of metal?

Unless they are autographed or of guys I collect, I wouldn't get caught dead buying the stuff unless they were individual cards.

I didn't mind press plates at first, but yes they are going to far. I think they need to pull the 1/1 label off and just insert them into the packs they came from

I agree the plain ones are kind of boring but they are nice if they're of a star RC or something. I do like what Triple Threads has been doing with the 1/1 press plate Triple Auto Patches. I think those are really nice and add more demand, but I do agree that a product like this Black Box will only devalue press plates even more. How is there any excitement in opening packs looking for 1/1's when you know that you're going to get 5 1/1 press plates in a box. The industry is starting to ruin the whole 1/1 thing just like they did with game used cards.

The thing about press plates is that they are 1/1's that are in circulation. All companies keep one or two plates of each card in a vault so they can potentially produce reprints later so overall the cards aren't the only one of its kind available.
