Patriots Broke the Rules, Stealing/Taping Signals
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches, according to league sources.
NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets' defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion.
Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots "multiple draft picks" because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents.
The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Tuesday that no official decision has been made and that the club has not been notified.
The league also was reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game, sources said. The team did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game.
Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday but that is not set in stone.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked when he expected a verdict, but said those questions had to be directed toward Goodell.
"There is an investigation going on now, and perhaps an adjudication of it, and I think it would be inappropriate at this time to make any comment," Kraft told reporters at a charity appearance Tuesday. "When you're successful in anything, a lot of people like to try to take you down and do different things. We understand that.
"We worked very hard to try to put an organization together that we all could be proud of in New England, and we're very proud of the New England Patriots organization and the record that they've established over the last 13 seasons and one game."
Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

What gets me is if Bonds went to a pharmacy ESPN would be covering it like 9/11 but see how much they go after the PATS for their cheating!
Just goes to show Brady isn't the man everyone thinks he is. He already knows what the defense is doing before they do!!!!
Patriots= Cheaters NOT Champs!

I must have missed it....where did Brady even come into the equation? He wasn't the one cheating....he wasn't the one taping crap from the sidelines....so why are you knocking Brady, and taking shots at him? You must really just be irritated by the fact that everyone always takes shots at Bonds, and whenever the opportunity knocks to take a shot (even though Brady has basically nothing to do with this), you jump to back Bonds (who also has nothing to do with this), and take a shot at someone who....HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.
Enlighten me, please. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it. So if you can show me that Brady was really involved, I'll back down on my stance. Otherwise, I don't understand why your taking shots at him, thats all.

i think all he was getting at was bc they were taking defensive signals it therefore assisted Brady and made it easier for him because he knew what was coming...
which adds a whole other perspective into this...bc Brady is getting info no other QB in the NFL is getting

Thank you Sean......See Brady is cheating if he is being told theres a blindside blitz coming. How in the heck is he NOT involved????????
The guy is taping the signals for a scrapebook????? No so he can pass on that info to increase the success of the Patriots offense which btw Tom Brady runs.... I think it funny people will turn a blind eye when its their guy thats called into question. Sure someone else did the deed of taping it but it wasn't for NFL films! Lastly please don't tell me you think Tom Brady had no idea what was going on either! Unless they told him Kraft hired a psychic to tell them what the other D was gonna do????

Did I say he had no idea what was going on? NO.
You made it seem like it's ALL his fault, and he's the main person to blame.
Secondly, how in the hell do you figure I'm "turing a blind eye when my guy is called into question"??
I HATE THE PATRIOTS. I'm sick of them winning. I can't stand Brady. So get your facts straight. You can clearly tell I'm a CLEVELAND fan, NOT a Patriots fan.
I just don't understand why your taking shots at him over a punk ™™™™™ like Belichick.
