Should Quarterbacks be able to slide?

In its history NFL has instituted some good rules and some terrible rules since it first started. By far one of the worst rules allows a quarterback to take off running then slide before he gets tackled. In my view the great scramblers like John Elway didn’t need to slide. He knew exactly where he [...]

NO if you cross the line of scrimmage you are no longer a QB but a runner and take your chances like everyone else! I'd love to see a RB do something like that!!!! Protect them in the pocket but come on when is enough ...enough????

I don't like the rule because it puts the defenders in a bad position. How many times have you seen a QB start to slide just as the defender is about to nail him only to have him accidentally hit the QB in the head drawing a penalty.

I remember seeing a few times a QB fake a slide and when the defender let up move past him.

To often nowadays the Defender lets up a little bit because he doesn't want to be given a penalty or fined. Time for the QB to Man up and the NFL to stop being known as the No Fun League.
