Question what is a proof card??

I recently acquired this steve smith auto but I didn't see that proof stamp before I got it. I was wondering if someone could fill me on what this means for my card. I am hoping the auto is still legit but I do not know anymore. Thanks for any help you can offer.

as far as i know, there isn't any significance other than being a parallel, just like refractors....autograph is legit, dont worry

oh ok thanks for the info. I contacted the seller and he said it just meant it was one of the first copies printed... but I thought it was just like draft print so it was essentially worthless

yea. The proofs are just another parallel level, usually 1 of 1 but not necessarily labeled that way.
