    The Wild Wild West

Western Conference is really something this year. There are five teams all within a game or two of first place in the conference. If standings remain about the same after the All-star break, the last stretch of the season will be fun to watch.

    New Orleans 29-12 .707
    Phoenix 30-13 .698
    Dallas 28-13 .683
    San Antonio 28-13 .683
    LA Lakers 27-13 .675

Who would've thought the Hornets and Lakers would be right up there with those teams? Lakers were certainly surprising this year. It's a shame they lost Bynum. I would've really liked to see Kobe/Bynum in the playoffs, even though I'm totally not a Lakers fan.

And props to Peja for making a comeback. I still remember watching him during his Kings days. He was deadly, but choked like none other in the playoffs

Utah, Denver moving on up. New Orleans, Dallas, Phoenix each tied with the fewest losses in the West (14).

New Orleans, 37-16, still tops in the West. Phoenix one game behind them. 8th place team is Denver at 33-21 and Golden State on their tail at 33-22. We are likely to see a 50 win team NOT make the playoffs this season.

I'm really worried about my spurs. They barely beat the Timberwolves last week!

Spurs beat the Hornets last night and are tied with them for first place in the division! Phoenix and Lakers are tied for #1 in the West.

And the Lakers are now #1! In less than 24 hours we've had three teams lead the Western Conference.
