    Americana (Non-racing) Mojo

    Hey all,

I know this isn't a racing card - but I know you all the best and felt sharing it here would be enjoyed. Some of you have purchased Americana, most of you have seen them on the Misc. Trading board as well as on eBay. Well - this isn't that "great" a pull (i.e. not a Cut Sig) - but cool nonetheless. I had searched in vain for about two weeks for Americana around here with no luck. Everywhere my father-in-law (bret2) went that I didn't - he found it. All the main places you would expect it - nothing. Well - last Saturday I went to surprise my wife at work (she works at Meijer) so of course I went to Wal Mart first at about 10:30 at night. Surprise surprise - there were five blasters of Americana. Called Bret - asked how many he wanted (three) - so I bought them all. Visited the wife and we came home and starting to bust the two blasters. For those of you who have not opened this product - it is easy to tell if you have a memorabilia pack once the blaster is open - the pack is roughly twice as thick as the other packs. We both opened our blaster and found we both had thick packs (score!) - so of course we saved them for last. Ten packs of base and three lackluster proofs built the anticipation for the sixth pack. We got to our memorabilia cards at the same time - and uncovered them together. I glanced down at mine - Steve Guttenberg Shirt proof card /100 - woohoo - not really. Then I looked at my wifes and it made it all better (sorry for the glare)....

Stacy Keibler Shirt Proof card 09/25!!!! This is the shortest printed memorabilia card (or any card for that matter!) I have ever been responsible for purchasing! This made it all worth the wait! This product is really cool and really fun to break. I will say this - if you are buying retail in hopes of autos - they seem hard to come by. Bret, his son, and myself combined have yet to pull one out of more blasters than we all would like to admit! Thanks for reading and best of luck to everyone on their future breaks!!

Very nice story..I would have opened the thicker one first though because I would have been too anxious to see what was in it. haha But I have to ask -What are the Americana? I've never actually seen them but have heard of them.

    Greetings all,

To address all things in turn:

saulriverafan52 - Thanks, but right now this card is staying put. I don't collect anything but racing and I have no idea what kind of trade value to put on it!

Ashley - I thought about opening the thick pack first - but I knew the other five held no memorabilia! As to what it is - a little more description for you: Americana is a 100 card set that features stars of the movie and TV world, as well as a sprinkling of sports stars (including Bobby Allison). The inserts include shirt cards (like the one above), autos, auto shirt cards, cut signatures from some passed Hollywood greats, as well as dual signings and dual shirt cards. The one that comes to mind for me (as far as the dual pieces go) is a dual Adam West/Burt Ward (1960's Batman & Robin) Autograph. Wish I had pulled one of those - but I didn't - but am happy with what I did pull (maybe not Guttenberg as much! LOL!).

To everybody else - thanks for the congrats and comments!
