Lakers Trivia and Roster Changes in the Off Season!
A little Lakers trivia for everyone. Just wondering how many true Laker fans or basketball fans know this. Which 3 players in the last 10 years have technically been Lakers (media day pictures were taken) but never played a game for them. All 3 players I am talking about were acquired by the Lakers in a trade. I am not talking about draft picks that never signed. One of them is retired and the other two players are still in the league. Anyone else knows?
What off season roster changes do you see? Lakers have technically 15 players under contract if you include Mbenga. What do you think will and should happen, knowing how Lakers management works.
Potential Lakers losses
Kwame Brown - doesnt deserve his $9 Mil a year, hope we dont even offer him $3 Mil to stay
Chris Mihm - I think he has a team option for next year, I dont see them paying him $2.5 Mil since he has been injured the past 2 seasons
Trade Bait
Lamar Odom - I honestly think if the Lakers cant get past the first round, they will seek to trade Odom since I think his contract is up after the 08-09 season
Luke Walton - I know he has a high basketball IQ, but I have not seen him do anything this season. Rumors had Kings and Raptors wanted him last off season before he resigned with us. I know Sac would never trade Artest to us for him. Kapono wouldnt be bad, at least he can shoot threes ala Vlad and Sasha.
I am pretty sure Sasha and Turiaf will be resigned. Ariza will pick up his player option. Mbenga may stay as a 3rd string backup for league minimum if we ditch Kwame and Mihm

Hehe I think the offseason moves section should be changed by today with amazing gasol deal we got.
Let me solve the trivia lol
1) Laron Profit in Kwame-Caron Butler Deal
2) B.J.Armstrong in Glen Rice- Elden Campbell+Eddie Jones deal
3) Emanuel Davis+Chuck Person in 4 way deal (involved Ewing, Horace Grant etc)

1. I seem to remember Tony Battie never played after the Nick van Exel deal.
2. kobe080 is right that BJ Armstrong never played after the Glen Rice deal.
3. ??? Marcus Banks was a Laker for a day or two in the Gary Payton deal. ???
Good question, though. Nice to see I don't have to battle the haters on this board by myself any more!

hmm yea i dont recall toni battie playing for the lakers lol
and also, we brought in chucky atkins and chris mihm for gary payton and rick fox...not marcus banks
im pretty sure we would have gave marcus banks a chance to play back up PG or something because he is still young and he was younger back then.
he would've been a solid PG but he's just a benchwarmer for the Suns right now

Actually Laron Profit played for the Lakers a few games in the regular season I believe. I forgot about Emanuel Davis, he did get waived. I didnt think Person was the player the Lakers got, we got Horace Grant from Seattle out of the Glen Rice to Knicks 4 way trade.
The answers I was thinking of was Tony Battie, Marcus Banks, and BJ Armstrong. Congrats to both of you for getting this.
Tony Battie was traded with the draft rights of Tyronn Lue from Denver for Nick Van Exel. Battie was traded to the Celtics for Travis Knight a few days later.
BJ Armstrong was traded with Glen Rice and JR Reid from Charlotte for Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell. Armstrong was waived the next day.
Marcus Banks was traded with Chris Mihm and Chucky Atkins from Boston for Gary Payton and Rick Fox (who was going to retire anyways). Since GP refused to take the physical because he was pissed off the Lakers traded him after he picked up his player option, the Lakers said they would send back Banks for Jumaine Jones.
