not too shabby
I agree with you that it wasn't the best rip i've ever seen, but there are still a couple of real nice cards there. don't be too discouraged. High end product these days are still pretty nice.

That is my theory as well. I haven't bust a pack of wax that I paid more than $5 for ever. I just can't see paying $20+ on a pack when I can probably buy the best card in the pack for less than that.
No1RiceGuy - Not a great break but that Ronnie Brown is awesome and the Allen cut auto is sweet as well. I would expect the Moss triple GU will do well also since it is a Pats uni. The Trafton will probably sell well because that one is low #ed and set builders will be hot for it.
BTW, did you know you listed the Brandon Jacobs as a RC?

If everyone thought like this you wouldn't have any cards to buy would you? There wouldn't be cards period if noone purchased the companies product. Also it's just like gambling, spending a little extra cash to hit that big jackpot if at all possible. Nothing like paying 100 dollars for a box and hitting a thousand dollar card or so.

Well, it's like all things in this world it's relative. For example, a kid works at McDonalds pulling in minimum wage, he can't afford to buy $500 boxes of cards but he can buy a $50 box of cards. Now, a NYSE stock trader who is pulling in 6 figures can afford to buy the $500 box of cards. It's no different then the kid who works at McDonalds that can afford the $50 box, he just gets to buy the high end stuff that the McDonalds kid wishes he could afford. See, it's all relative.

Ricefan: That is a pretty brutal 3 boxes my condolences.

I agree. Some people refer to something as expensive while other don't give it a second thought.

For me personally, it isn't that I can't afford it, I am just cheap LOL. In my mind I can't justify spending more than a car payment on a box of cards. The odds are too rare that I will hit something worth the cost of the box and too high that I will get a pile of junk.
Even if you pull a $1000 card out of a $500 box you still came out behind. You will never get $500 cash out of the card (unless it is a Sweetness auto) so in the end you still spent more for the box than the card/s will be worth. The instances like Reggie Bush RC's selling for ridiculous amounts are far and few between, the odds are that you will end up with much less than what you expected/hoped to get.
I have built 99.9% of my collection by buying singles. I may not have a big stack of cards that book $200 or $300 but I also can't think of a single time that I spent more than $50 on a box. Most of the guys who have high end collections can't remeber the last time they spent less than $100 on a box. Thanks to them, my collection is what it is today.

But if you pulled this out of a $500 box it would be a completely different story ...

Everybody is entitled to there own opinion (for what is worth)
It's a gamble, no different the slot machines, table games or even the Lottery! You can't win if you don't play.
