I've never understood why people don't like these kind of cards. I think they create a good national buzz for the hobby. You can't tell me that national attention isn't a good thing.

I think it's fairly simple why collectors might not like them. It's not a real picture of the scene. It's doctored. What else does Topps doctor?

Yeah but this isn't the kind of "national buzz" that most companies are looking for. I mean, you want to create a national buzz? Get rid of redemptions. Have ALL cards in hand before you bring out a product. How about that for national attention?

This kind of political move can only alienate collectors more than they already are. Eisner wouldn't have tried to sneak this crap into a Disney movie; I don't know how he has the guts to do it here. It would be like if they'd snuck an animated Bill Clinton smoking his cigar into the background during the "Circle of Life" song in the Lion King.

I don't know about you, but I don't think the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, etc will be running a story if card companies get rid of redemptions. They have a better chance of running this story than that one.

I think this will pretty much be a non-story outside of New York and Boston. Rudy isn't the mayor anymore, and he's not a presidential candidate anymore, and the idea/error/trick isn't original anymore.

The story made ESPN and Yahoo Sports! so I would say people all around have heard about it.
