question about getting cards graded?

If i want to send about 25 cards to get graded,how would i go about doing it and does it cost alot to do?Do i have to put the cards in just plastic sleeves when i send in?Any info on this would be much appreciated if you'll take the time to give me your opinion.

I can't speak for anything but Beckett because that is all I have ever used. I think PSA is around the same in pricing but you have to join PSA to get cards graded by them. Some of the others are cheaper but not really worth it considering nobody takes them serious.

Cost depends primarily on how fast you want them back. For 25 cards, at 45 day service, it would cost you $8 per card plus $12 for UPS Ground shipping for them to ship the cards back to you and $6 for insurance, a total of $218.

If you want it faster it goes up in price. 20 days is $10 per card, 10 days is $12.50 per card, 5 days is $20 per card and 2 days is $25 per card.

As you can see, it can be pretty expensive. It is my experience that unless you get a 9.5 or 10 from BGS then you won't get anymore than regular BV in cash or trade anyways. In other words, if it gets a 9 or less it is pretty much not worth getting graded.

As for sending the cards to them. They require you to ship your cards in those crappy UltraPro semi-rigid holders. They claim that toploaders risk damage to the cards. The only way they accept them in toploaders is if you call and get them to agree to it first.

My personal opinion is that a card that books under $100 isn't worth grading. I figure it this way. If the card books $50 I can sell it for $12-$20 as is. If I invest $10-$12 in getting it graded then I have to sell it for at least $24-$32 just to break even. Unless it is graded a 10 then it is highly unlikely that it will sell for $32 so I will either lose money or keep it. Unless you intend to keep them after they are graded then there really is no point. Hope this helps.

Beckett, PSA, SGC, would be the top 3 in my mind. You will hear many arguments on the PSA vs Beckett and who is better (either way your good). Let us know what you send in and get graded. Would love to see how you fare on your cards!!

Yeah that price quoted above of like 218 dollars is with COMBINED SHIPPING. As insurance and shipping were under $20. The grading is what cost at $8 a piece x the number of cards you want.
