horrible hire, horrible hiring process, horrible owner....its likely a one year move to make another run at cowher next year, but unacceptable reguardless....no problems with him being the OC, as he would have helped campbell immensely....but as the HC he wont get the hands on work with JC.....this guy hasn't even been a coordinator, let alone a head coach!! in his press conference after being hired, he refered to the skins as "the maroon and black"......good one zorn!! also said that championships intimadate him!!! LOL, thanks jim, you are intimidated by the freakin goal of this game!! passed up on atleast 6 guys that would have been better hires (including those that passed on the job for 1 reason.....they dont wanna work for a guy like danny snyder).....and since when do you hire assistants BEFORE hiring your head coach?? you dont, and this is a prime example of why!! i miss the cooke family!!

I'm an Eagles fan but this move makes ABSOLUTELY no sense.

its not the hire that is the big problem (although Zorn has ALOT to prove), its how they arrived at the hire

    - they make an "effort" to get Cowher, but to no avail

    - they interview Greg Williams a 1/2 dozen times, a guy who was well liked by the fans, and very respected by the team......still not sure why he didn't get a job offer

    - they hire Jim Zorn as the OC

    - they give Ron Meeks a few interviews, but no luck there

    - they grill Jim Fassel for days, nothing

    - they make a run at Mariucci, but Mooch once nothing of it (alot had to do with coaching under Dan Snyder, a problem many candidates aparently had)

    - they try for Steve Spagnuolo after the superbowl, but he wont budge

so, at this point they already said no, or have been turned down, by just about everyone out there!! they never gave a guy like Russ Grimm any serious consideration, which was a big mistake!! it pretty much came to the point where there were no other candidates to interview. since they did everything backwards, in hiring 1/2 a coaching staff BEFORE a head coach, they decided "hey, lets just promote the OC we hired to be our coach"

i think some fans would have been more receptive if Zorn had been a candidate for the job before being hired as the OC, but this just seems like a desperation hire...and that is all due to the incompitance of our owner
