davis is alittle old. id do howard if there was more of him out there and same for redd and jaminson. i just have problems choosing cause i dont want to collect someone just to do it then give up after trying

All right! I got one:
Rafaer Alston
I'm thinking about starting with him too. The reason I am interested in collecting him is because 1) I like his style of play, 2) he has that story attached to him as being one of the And1 players to make it to the NBA and 3) he plays on a pretty competitive team, The Rockets.
His cards shouldn't be too out-of-range right now. I love shopping for cards on Ebay and I see an UD Artifacts Gold 1/50 that I wouldn't mind getting of his.

I would collect Gerald Green or Al Jefferson... If they are too much then you could go with Jordan Farmar, but I do not know how much he is...
