Actually what they did was to cut on the inside to get to the jaw bone, then they sliced though the bone about half way straight up, turned 90 degrees and slice with the bone, then turned back up and finished slicing though the bone. Thay did this on both sides of her jaw.
Thay brought the left side out 7 MM and moved the right side in 7mm. They made small incisions under her jaw on the outside, this was to be able to use three screws on both sides to screw her jaw bone back together.
Few days before the surgery the Othrodontist replaced her braces with different ones that would hold rubber bands. The surgeon banded her jaw together. They do this instead of wiring these days. She'll have this in place for a couple of weeks. Liquid diet. Then she'll be able to progreess to soft food like mash potatoes and gravy. It will take probably 8-10 weeks to heal.
We would like to thank all that have sent messages to get well. She really takes them to heart.
Thanks again
Mike

I don't think she can wait to eat the mashed potatoes!! It's one of her favorites!!! I've never had to stay in a hospital, but I'm not a fan either. lol I hope I never have to have surgery or stay in a hospital.
