    Divided?

With top name rookies signing exclusive deals with either Topps or Upper Deck in recent years, do you think the split is good or bad for the basketball card hobby?

Bad. Not a big fan of these exclusive deals.

I'm with you. This year is a shining example of it being bad because I bet Upper Deck has sold a ton more of their products because people want the shot at a Durant Auto since he's healthy and playing & Oden is hurt. Al Horford is probably the next best rookie and he's in Upper Deck guy too. Yi Jianlian's cards are selling well on auction sites but my boy, Brandan Wright has yet to play much for Nellie out in Golden State so his are going fairly cheaply.

    ill vote for bad.

because some of the greatest cards will never be produced.

think of a lebron james topps rookie premiere auto, or a lebron/wade dual auto.

or a durant/oden auto would be nice too

i voted bad, but im not really an auto collector so i guess i'm indifferent. but i voted bad because i just thought of how maybe there is one really cool looking auto that a brand puts out, and it would suck if a certain player i liked wasn't available in that auto just because they signed an exclusive deal.

but at least they're always the regular rookie card in any set. that's more important to me.

Damn Upper Deck is trying to get an exclusive on everyone so you have to buy their trash.

it is bad, because anyone who doesnt have tons of money to spend on this knows that if they spend a few bucks on a few packs that it isnt possible for them to get certain players. they are taking a kids hobby and turning it into a very expensive hobby in which the kids cant get anything close to the best of it.
