Considering Favre went out on a career year, I can understand him wantin to wrap it up now instead of playin a few more years despertately tryin to get back to the Super Bowl, and making a fool of himself with diminishing skills. I know some of you guys will say that would never happen but time catches up with all athletes. Brett couldn't leave a Super Bowl champ but he went out on the top of his game and not many athletes can do that. Most end up getting cut, unable to find a team to pick them up. Favre fans can definetly understand how Bettis fans felt a few years ago when he hung it up...same with Elway.

Even as a Vikings fan, this was a sad day. And since Im in Wisconsin, seeing the face's of individuals all over was truly saddening. The overall mood in Wisconsin today was just awful.
I never liked Favre, but respected him as a player and as a man. It's going to be really weird watching the Packers every sunday and not seeing #4 on the field. Viking's fan or not, hes one player I will certainly miss watching. He was the last player I watched from when I was young, the last link to my childhood (Believe it or not, I grew up a Packers fan until they won the Super Bowl, then I found a new team).
I wish Favre the best of luck in whatever he and his family decide to do. A big salute to the Ironman - Brett Favre.

When Brett started his NFL career with ATL, I was in my senior year in HS. I would never thought back then that i would be still talking about him after 4 different jobs, two girlfriends, six years of marriage, three presidents, three Jordan retirements, seeing Earnhardt Sr. AND Jr. win the 500, etc..
They are soooooooooo many highlights to talk about...
seeing his first TD pass--i was a Bengals fan at the time and watched that game, my first reaction to him was "he might last awhile"
the SB XXXI win--that TD pass on the 2nd play of the game and the vicotry run afterward.
the Monday night games--the two that stick in my mind is the OAK game after his dad died and couldn't do ANYTHING wrong...still get goosebumps thinking about that; and the game where he threw to Freeman, who caught the ball off the Vikings player on the ground.
But he did what I think everybody wanted him to do...leave at the top of his game.
God bless, Brett. It'll be tough not seeing your #4 in the huddle anymore. We'll see you in Canton in six years.

As a fan, I didn't want to see Favre retire, but after watching the press conference today it seems it was just his time to go. I'm gonna miss watching him play...he was one of the very best. I hope for nothing but the best for him and his family. Rodgers has some big shoes to fill, hopefully the pressure won't get to him and perhaps he'll turn out to be a good QB for Green Bay. We'll miss you Brett!!
