    Help on inserts/parallels please!!

Ok guys I just started collecting cards again over the last month.

    Here is my issue...

When I open a pack, I usually add all my cards into my collections on beckett.com so I can check values and what not. The problem I am having is I can never figure out what the card really is. Say its numbered to 49 or 249 or 999. Beckett will have like red, blue, gold, black, prime, saphire, ruby, green, emerald, silver, holofoil, refractors.

My problem is I never know which one it is. Is there some standard for colors and the number system, or are they different for each brand.

Today I opened a pack of 2007 Leaf R&S and I got a Ben Roethlisberger card that says Elements, so I at least know to look for elements when I look up the price on beckett, but...its also got a holofoil looking background and its numbered to 43/49. So...Beckett lists 3 different cards:

    ELements holofoil - 10 dollars
    Elements gold - 20 dollars
    ELements black - 25 dollars

HOW do I know which one I have?

I have come across this problem many times with many cards so far and sometimes I dont see enough evidence on the card to figure out which one I have.

    Help is MUCH appreciated!!

Usually on the R&S, the card is actually colored which ever it is. If that doesn't make sense, maybe post up a scan.

In that case its a black, but when I looked up "rookies and stars elements black" on google, I saw someone selling a "black" but it was numbered /199 not /49 which confused me.

My problem is, are all sets different, and whats the best method for finding which card you have, every time I add inserts to my collection it takes me 10 times longer because i get stuck on a card trying to figure out which one to add through becket, sometimes values can range 3 dollars to 30, so I dont want to be adding the wrong cards to my collection!

just gotta matchup the numbering with the colors:

2007 Leaf Rookies and Stars Elements
*SINGLES: 1X TO 2.5X BASIC CARDS
    *HOLOFOIL/49: 1X TO 2.5X BASIC INSERTS
    *HOLO.GOLD/25: 1.5X TO 4X BASIC INSERTS
    *HOLO.BLACK/10: 2X TO 5X BASIC INSERTS
    *FOIL/199: .6X TO 1.5X BASIC INSERTS
*LONGEVITY: .4X TO 1X BASIC INSERTS
    *LONG.EMERALD/29: 1.5X TO 4X BASIC INSERTS
    *LONG.RUBY/199: .6X TO 1.5X BASIC INSERTS
    *LONG.SAPPHIRE/99: .8X TO 2X BASIC INSERTS

Most of the sets are different...that's a problem I had when I got back into collecting too (still do from time to time). One trick that I use a lot is to kinda do what you already did, look it up. I use eBay and look up a comparable card. Sometimes one auction can be wrong or it lists the serial #, but not the full title of the card, so I'll check 3 or 4 different ones. That to me is the quickest easiest way of finding out.

this is EXACTLY what I was looking for, where did you find this, and is there a site with all sets info like this? If not, it would be AWESOME if there was a site you can go to with all sets that have info like this.

See I almost added my card as a black because I thought 49 might be the best holofoil, but now I realize I just have a normal holofoil which is a 15 dollar difference in cards.
    Thanks!

that is from the beckett OPG....they dont always show up when you select the specific parallel, but if you go to the regular insert it usually shows what the parallels are and are numbered to
