Seahawks Sign RB Jones To Four-Year Deal

What does this say for Shaun Alexander will he retire or take the back seat?

Seahawks Sign RB Jones To Four-Year Deal

    John Clayton, ESPN -

The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement in principle Friday night with former Cowboys RB Julius Jones, the second running back move made by the team this week. Jones agreed to a four-year deal worth around $3 million per season. The contract is comparable to the five-year, $14 million contract reached with RB T.J. Duckett earlier this week.

Very interesting. I'd say Alexander definitely has a lot to prove if he is staying. He had a bad year last year and fell completely off the radar of the league's elite backs. I find it hard to believe he is just done though...he just kept getting better 2001-2005, then all of a sudden dropped off to less than half the yards and almost half the average/carry in 2006 and got even worse in 2007. The injuries have been a big part of it, of course, but how do you go from that good to that bad in 1-2 years? Baffling

All signs are pointing to Alexander being released all together. The Seachickens already have Maurice Morris and just signed Duckett and Jones so no way they keep Alexander on their roster as well. I've heard speculation that he could end up in Carolina or Houston, so we'll have to see.

I'd rather see him go to Houston...they need a back anyway. In Carolina, I want to see DeAngelo get a fair shot at being a feature back...I think he's got potential.
