    Question about ebay auctions

I am fairly new to collecting cards again after 15 yrs, and man has it changed! Also new to ebay. I did notice that some of the cards that recieve alot of bids repedative usernames such as a**s,u**a,s**a. It seems to be a patten. Now are these people bidding on their own iteam to jack up the price?? I am just a little hesitent to bid on these cards. Is anybody aware of this. You can see what i am talking about on most auctions with alot of bids.

Hey there, and welcome to SCF!

I believe Ebay implemented a thing that blocked out the user's complete username so that there not attacked with Spam emails from other Ebayers. Hope I could help, thanks!

Yeah, it's nothing to worry about! It's just ebay's way of potentially protecting the bidder in high end auctions.

Yes I dont like it though it is a way to hide some shill bidding imo but EBAY doesnt seem to care about that to much because I contact them on shill Bidders and they dont do anything about it

it also makes it easier for the seller to use shills, which a lot of them do.

And it makes it easier for sellers to sell their faked patches and forged autos to unsuspecting buyers because those of us who recognize them as fakes can no longer contact potential buyers and warn them that they are biding on bogus items.
