    Absolute memorabilia

So i was at my local Target last night and found tucked in the back a full box of Absolute Memorabilia. I looked at the price and it said $2.99 a pack. The packs look exactly like the one here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-PLAYOFF-ABSOLUTE-MEMORABILIA-Gu-Auto-HOT-PACK_W0QQitemZ310029973801QQihZ021QQcategoryZ654QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

These are going for $8 on ebay and Target has them for $2.99. Am i missing somthing? are there different packs for this set? Is retail different?

it looks like a retail pack which has a drastically lower chance of getting a hit. I think the reason the retail pack that you gave us the link to is a hot pack so that justifies raising the price.

so both the packs and the box are retail but that seller is selling a retail hot pack.

    no problem at all

A hot pack is essentially a pack that is guranteed a hit, either an auto or jersey card. People usually do this by pack searching. I have never purchased a hot pack so I can't say if it is for real.

The main difference between retail and hobby packs/boxes are the amounts of hits. If you would have purchased the retail box you saw at target, you would have gotten maybe 1 nicer card. If you buy a hobby box you are guaranteed at least 4.

so the main difference besides price is what you are getting. I bought a retail box before (06 gridiron gear) and I got two football swatch cards....obviously not the best pulls. Had i bought a hobby box I probably would have gotten a couple autos and some game used cards.

The Target boxes have around four hits. Most of them are usually the retail only Rookie Jersey Collection. I have also seen some Marks of Fame but I am fairly sure that some of the better cards like RPM's are hobby only.
