Etiquette for New Members

Maybe it's just been a raw nerve lately, but as I have perused through posts I have been irritated by a few things that I probably shouldn't even waste my time thinking about. Therefore, I felt necessary to vent, er, post a few up for others to read.

1) If you have 10 feedback and you inquire about a card from a member with over 500 feedback, and they give you a price, don't respond with "I can find it a few dollars cheaper on ebay". Even if that's what you're thinking, just say "I was hoping to get it for $x". Respect those who have made this site what it is- a FUN trading site where everyone trusts each other, not a ™™™™™house auction site that buying a card means rolling the dice if you'll receive it or not.

2) Read the rules. Don't bump your posts every 4 hours with a lame message like "PM sent". Don't post $60 cards in the high end section (Even if it is a 1/1 Printing Plate of Sarunas Jasikevicius). Don't post the same tradelist in every forum saying "Trading ___ for basketball", Trading __ for baseball", Trading _ for football, Trading __ for High end, etc.

3) If you inquire about a $150 card, don't offer 10 $15 autos. I didn't have any nice stuff when I joined on here, so I spent my time completing trades, buying a few here and there, etc. If you want a card, have something comparable, or say you can pay $ ahead of time.

4) Read the headings above pictures in someone's photobucket. If it says "Traded", "Pending", "Not For Trade", then don't list those three cards as the only ones you liked. "Hard to get" and "Not For Trade" do not mean the same thing. That makes me either question your ability to read or your interest in really making a deal.

5) Update your photobucket. Alright, I am as guilty as anyone else on this. If you can't scan and delete all the new stuff, at least type headings that say their gone.

6) Your feedback is what SCF says your feedback is. I don't care if you founded ebay and were the first seller and have 3500 positives- on SCF, we all start on the same level, and if you're new you're sending first.

7) Some use sell value. Some use book value. To each his own, there's no right or wrong. Just be consistent. Don't use sell value on half your cards and book value on the other half, and don't use sell value to price half of mine and book value on the other half. We can all find auctions that say different things, it's not that hard.

8) Respond to PM's or messages on your thread. It takes 10 seconds to type "Didn't see anything at this moment" and click send.

9) Think reasonably. We're all smart people on here, make offers that benefit both people.

10) Send promptly, and please, for the sake of God, use appropriate postage. One stamp on a bubble mailer doesn't cut it anymore. I don't want to trudge down to the post office to pay another $.80 for the package you didn't take the time to mail properly. It's not the money, it's the inconsideration.


I love trading on here, but lately there's been some hassles that didn't use to exist! Feel free to add yours if you have a similar thought.

Tyler as much as I feel your pain. This doesn't only go for newbies as I have seen this done by some established members as well.

If everyone took the time to read the rules and to just use a little common sense things would go alot smoother.


My only gripe is this:
If you only want HOFer auto's For the love of GOD post it. Too many times I see a thread 20 members inquire about a members cards and he didn't see anything from anyone! How can that possibly be? If your that freakin picky then at least state what you want so I and others don't waste our time with you!!!!!

Agreed- but how about this one.....

I inquire about a $15 LeAndro Barbosa auto. Response? Not really looking to sell, and only looking to trade for stuff $50 and up right now.

I really kept scratching my head trying to figure out how to make that one work.

That when you just keep moving along and no need to scratch your head. AIN'T NO DEAL EVER GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THAT RESPONSE!!

Packaging tips:
Have some respect for others when it comes to mailing the cards. The correct postage is nice. I have had four of those already that the postage was not correct. The card wrapped in a piece of paper and then put in a plain white envelope does not work. Paper and bubble mailers are not the same. I don't mind used bubble mailers they work fine, but not a piece of paper. Last but not least if i send in a poly sleeve and top loader that is how you should send to me and everyone else.
