    Amen Arnold!!!

I saw this today while gooing through ESPN and read this snippet from Arnold Palmer:

Palmer did not hold back when asked what influence he hoped to have over young players. One of his pet peeves is related to the simple act of signing an autograph for fans.

"I don't know where a player comes off, a young player particularly, that is being asked to give an autograph and scribbles something down there that you can't read,'' Palmer said. "Well, who in the hell knows what it is? Why take the time to do it? Why not make it legible? Jack Nicklaus, you never have a question about Jack's autograph. Or Gary Player's autograph. … If you're going to give an autograph, make it legible so that people know what the hell they have in their hand.''

    -From ESPN.com's weekly 18.

I wish that every athlete, celebrity, and 15-minutes-of-famer would listen to his word. It gets so tiring to see the "chicken stratch" we see from these people every time we get an auto from them.

I've been saying this for years. I would rather see the guys sign fewer autographs that you can actually read than sign more that you can make out the first letter of first and last names and that's it.

Amen Turd! (I think that's the first time in my life I've ever said that!) I would prefer that as well for two reasons:

    1) I love the nice full autos...I'll keep full, legible autos of players I don't care for over illegible autos of players I do just because it's a lot more rare to find. They should take that into account w/values, making a card with a fully legible auto worth more just for that fact! They should be like multi-color patches, add a multiplier to it.

    2) Having fewer autos w/better sigs would also help desaturate (is that a word?) the market and make values of autos go up...I think there are far too many out there to begin with!

It would seem that too many of the newer players forget that they were given NAMES from there parents and not initials. I don't want to break a box and LUCKILY get a favorite player and get his initials. (Do YOU HEAR ME CARD COMPANIES!!! HAVE SOME QUALITY CONTROL REFUSE THEM IS THEY ARE BEING LAZY) I love the older players that for the most part sign great legible autographs. All of them have done something, HOF, SB, MVP. What have you done Rook? John Brodie had a stroke that left him partially paralized and he STILL signs better than most new guys.
