is this ok?? would it make you mad?

    Ok,

First, this is open to anybody. Please let me know how you feel about this.

    So here's the scenario.....

I buy a lot of cards from 'joe trader' on this forum as part of a trade. Now, as soon as we complete the trade, I turn around and try to sell them individually or whatever for more than I bought them. Of course, I'm trying to make a lil profit here like everybody else.

Problem is I'm wondering whether this is ethical, for lack of a better word. lol
But seriously, is it ok, or does it really piss anotha man off when you buy the cards and at X price and right away try to sell them to anotha trader for a higher amount?

    thanks for all your help!

to be honest to me it would depend, was he under the impression that they were going to be PC cards, did you tell him that you intended to sell the cards. Like in my case I have traded or sold cards I have gotten from other members but I told them from the beginning if they did not have something I could use for PC but did have some trade bait or card that I felt I could sell, that I would move that card. In all honesty I can understand why someone would get upset if you just recieved the cards and the next day they are on the block espicially if he gave you a good deal, and then the prices were jacked up. Just my opinion hope it helps. Daniel.

Yea if you came to me saying you wanted them for your son and I ave you a better price because of that I'd be steamed. But if the guy did the sale then he had to be happy with it or he shouldn't have done it. Once they are your cards you may do with them as you please. It is no different if you and joe trader were both selling the same rookie in diferent threads theres more than one of most cards. Though I hate people who use this hobby to make money

I understand George's position on this, but at the same time there are members like me that money is an issue due to being a Disabled Veteran and being in a transion period on my new life. So I do sell stuff that I don't collect just so I can go get more product not because I like selling. Daniel.

Did you have the cards in your hands before you started selling them or did you agree to the deal and pay for them and then start trying to sell them the same day you made the initial deal?

It is somewhat "unethical" to try to sell items you don't have in your hands yet because if something happens to go wrong with the package you are expecting and you have already sold it before you received it then it would just cause problems.

But if you purchased the cards and you do have them in your hands you should be able to do whatever you want with them since they are your cards.

    Thanks
    Mike

Yeah, I tend to agree with what's been said. If you have the cards in your hands then you can do whatever you want with them. They're your cards. There's nothing unethical about it. People have been re-selling cards for ages.

The only exception would be if you used a false premise to get the cards. Such as "I need these so I can donate them to the orphanage" or "My son really really wants to get these, but this is all he can afford." Just general stuff like that.

Though I hate people who use this hobby to make money

I hear this a lot on this site. Why do people "hate" others who use this "hobby" to make money?? Cards are a business, people put food on their table selling cardboard. One of my good friends runs a hobby shop, and an Ebay store, so I understand what it can be like, buying low, selling high. Why would anyone in their right mind Hate (pretty strong word) another for trying to make a buck??

I agree with you man. Once I buy a card I can do whatever I want to with it.

Would you get pissed if you sold your house for 100 thousand and then the buyer turned around and sold it for 150 thousand. Maybe you should of held out to try for 150.

It's called life, we all make good deals and bad deals and we have to live with the choices and consequences (or however you spell it).

Why as Americans do we get so upset that others make more money than us. I don't understand the whole hate the rich/tax the hell out of them. Why do we want to punish people when they have made something out of their lives?? This country gives people the chance to make their own living and their own money, why hate because you don't have as much as the next guy??
