didn't forfeit, had to swap 3rd round pick with Bears. I believe it was 3rd round. It is only a difference of 5 spots I believe.

How did they "tamper" with Briggs?

I believe they said that they were talking to him or his agent during the season. Daniel.

Supposedly the 49ers were trying to talk to his agent Drew Rosenhaus regarding his other client, Taylor Jacobs, and not Briggs. But they couldn't get a hold of each other. See links below:
