Graduated Squadron Officer School today
Today is an awesome Friday because I graduated Squadron Officer School. It was an intensive 5-week Air Force leadership school for middle to senior ranking Air Force Captains. Basically, the school works on leadership, physical fitness, communications (speeches, presentations, writing, etc) and team building. I had a blast and my flight (14 members) finished third in the entire school of 34 flights. Personally, I enjoyed the physical fitness aspect of working out 6 times a week. At the end of course I ran 3 miles in 24 minutes, did 55 sit ups and 65 push ups (1 minute time limit for each).
There were a ton of motivational/leadership lectures given. I got to hear several Generals give their perspectives on leadership. I got to hear a Tuskegee Airman (first African American pilots from WWII) and the Mission Commander Gene Kranz (Played by Ed Harris in the movie) from Appolo 13 speak. It was a great time and I depart Montgomery, Alabama tomorrow for Hawaii. Just thought I'd share my past 5 weeks!

My best time in 5k is 29 minutes. You got me beat there! As well as push ups, my body doesn't like them. But I got you on sit ups! My best 1 minute was 62. But that was when I was in high school. :)
Congratulations though, Mike! Intensive 5 weeks but it passed rather quickly, for me at least :)

Did I mention that I'm 35. :) When you hit 35 in the Air Force the requirement get a bit easier. I think I was required to perform the 3 mile run in about 29:30.
I could have done it faster, but I also had a 2.5 obstacle course that followed the push ups, sit ups and 3 mile run. I had to save some energy! :)

Haha. Still probably better fit than I am. I may do my school internship with the US Marshals which have similar guidelines of physical fitness to pass. Hopefully they won't have them for the internship position, but if they do, I'll need to get back into shape somehow, real quick!

Just ragging ya Mike...
When I had my yearly physical back in December, they had me run three miles. Why, I don't know. But my time was 20:32. I was happy.
