i think he is top 3 amongst most people... i think he is lower than kobe and paul because people see the celtics as the big 3 turning it around... rather than Garnett just coming in and changing the team.

True. I didn't see it that way at the time.

Garnett's numbers are not eye popping.

    19ppg, 9.3rpg, 3.5apg, 54% FG in 33 minutes avg.

    Lets compare Garnett to Duncan.

    19.5ppg, 11.5rpg, 2.9apg, 50% FG in 34 minutes avg.

    Hmm....

People here in DC do that same comparison with Jamison... he scores more and grabs more boards per game than KG. But I think KG's an MVP candidate mostly because people see him as a big part of the Boston turn around.

    21.5 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, .437 FG%, 38.9MPG (Jamison's stats)

He's certainly a significant factor in Boston's turnaround, but voting him MVP would be discrediting the contribution of Pierce and Allen. They too have played a huge role this season.

MVP isn't all about the numbers, but the numbers can't be ignored. Defensive presence of players do not show up in the stats.

i agree, and being a good leader can't necessarily be seen in stats either.

My vote goes to Chris Paul although it looks like Kobe is going to win. Some analysts are saying this is more of a lifetime achievement MVP.
