Man Finds $140,000, Turns It In To Cops

    Would you do the same?
It was a tempting sight for struggling landscaper Eli Estrada: a bag filled with $140,000 on a Cerritos street.

There was his credit card debt, upcoming wedding and making ends meet with his artificial grass and landscaping business.

But turning it over to Long Beach police last month was the right thing to do, he said.

The 40-year-old Estrada admits that some days "I think I was nuts," but he adds, "I know in my gut that to keep that money would be wrong."

The Bank of America money bag was lost March 11 by Brinks Armored truck drivers. The unmarked $20 bills were bundled into wads of $20,000 and bound for ATMs.

    Full story here.
How does an armored truck just lose a bog with $140,000????

later gave him a $2,000 reward.

You think the drivers would have paid him at least that much and the bank could have afforded a much bigger reward. Such as $20K, but at least he was honest and did the right thing. I too would have turned it in and just wondered what if.

Yeah that would be tough to turn that much cash over lol. But ultimately he did the right thing.

Good guy, we need more people like him in the world, I would have turned the money over to, I did once but not that amount, a guy dropped his wallet and I opened it to find his ID so I could contact him, and there was like 400-500 in it, so I looked up his # in the phone book lucky me it was listed called him up and returned his wallet. I agree. The reward should have been much bigger. Giving a guy less than 2% of the total amount seems mighty low!

The good side of me would say not to keep it but the other side would say to keep it and buy cards! LOL I think if I kept it I'd feel pretty bad about it even if it would help the collection A LOT. Its good that that guy didnt keep it. :)

I wouln't have kept it. It would buy A LOT of cards, and I could finally go to the Daytona 500, but I would feel terrible if I kept it. I don't think I could enjoy the cards or the 500 knowing the money didn't belong to me.

I'm surprised he turned it in. You'd think most people would have kept it!

I have to be in the situation. If I am by myself I think I would keep it. If I am with my wife she'll say to return it. so the best thing to do to keep everybody happy...it's keep half and turn in half.
