Nets miss playoffs
Nets missed the playoffs for the first time since 01. With Jason Kidd in the lineup they likely would have made the playoffs. Should they keep Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson or trade/release them in the offseason?

Well, I'm glad since I'm a Knicks fan!
After Carter got his fat contract, it seemed that he lacked intensity and heart. Even in a poor Eastern conference, I would've thought that the Nets would've been a 6th seed.

Carter is dead weight on any team I think, his legs are almost gone and he never was much of a stats guy outside of scoring, the Nets should try and unload him but keep Jefferson and build the team around him and Devin Harris for the future. Marcus Williams will be a decent PG and the frontcourt will shape up with Sean Williams and Josh Boone maturing. May take another year of missing the playoffs, but if they unload Carter and his contract maybe they can rebuild cheap and start over.

yeah, i think once they traded kidd they sent the message that they wanted to rebuild. josh boone seems like he might turn out to be a decent player.

they should dump VC and trade for a higher draft pick...maybe they can kill 2 birds with 1 stone - trade VC for a higher draft pick...Jason Richardson was traded for the 8th overall pick, so it's possible...just have to find someone to absorb his contract

I agree with swill300. They need to get rid of Vince Carter and build around Devin Harris and Richard Jefferson. It shouldn't be too difficult to make it into the Eastern Conference next year, right?
