GU HELP PLEASE what do you think

I was just wondering does anyone know how ud get there stuff for 1/1. I saw a Ty Cobb GU BAT 1/1 it says used in 1917 do they go and just ask the owner of the bat for a chip of it or do they use a bat they have bought and use it on all the GU stuff.

They buy memorabilia and use it, like with Ty Cobb, they bought the bat to use in the cards. The 1/1 thing doesn't matter though. Most 1/1s use the same jersey/bat/etc that is used in other cards, only the design of the card is different. Like with the Ty Cobb bat, parts of it were used in 1/1s, 1/50s, 1/100s, etc and probably over a few years worth of cards. They're not going to pay a lot of money for a Ty Cobb bat to only use one little piece of it in one card.

right on the money, which is why i personally dont put much stock in the print run of cards.....an autograph /250 is really no different than an auto /25 - its the same autograph, and unless the guy only has 25 autographs on the entire market, the print run means very little.....take a given auto /25.....that player might have 3,000+ similar certified autographs from the past 5 or 10 years.....nothing special about any of them if you ask me (personally, its just a matter of card design)

same goes for gu stuff.....there is so much of it out there, a card being numbered /5 with a nice 2 color patch is no different to me than a similar patch /50.....i personally think its crazy to pay the $$ on the super rare autos/gu as they really aren't that rare.....i do understand player collectors, as well as "special" patches (logo's and the such)....but seriously, the "rareness" of a card is just with respect to that particular set, not the actual number of autos or gu in circulation

thanks for the answers as the card said bat used from 1917 but i had same card and it says bat used later so they buy one bat and just use it on all product cool

I agree with the proudest monkey here because no matter what the numbering it is the same autograph,granted some sets look better than others but not by much, so i really wouldn't pay extra for all the bells and whistles if i just wanted the autograph of a certain player.take care Steve

the only cards where print run matters are printing plates, because they are actually limited. anything else has other cards like it that are just about the same.
