Lucky Americans
Hey all,
Im an aussie, ive been collecting cards for years. I collect AFL cards. For the people that dont know thats our big sport over here australian football league.
I support a team colled Port Adelaide Power, they have been around since 1997 and i am hoping to collect all of there cards. And at the moment am well on the way to.
BUT, just recently i have been looking at tennis cards and NBA cards. (as i play basketball etc)
You guys are the luckiest people to collect NBA cards! they are beautiful and leave our AFL cards for dead! The inserts you guys have are fantastic. So many autos and game worn cards, beautifully set out! just wow!
My only complaint would be you have to many to collect and would be almost impossiable to collect a set or get all the inserts of a player etc...
But im just jelous and disapointed our AFL cards dont come any where near the cards that are avaliable to you!
Ill still collect my AFL cards of Port Power only because i love the team, but deep down ill be a bit disapointed the cards dont look like yours....

You are correct that it's almost impossible to get all inserts of a player. : ) And sets have become increasingly difficult as well, especially master sets..for the modern sets, I tend to just collect the base set without rookies to make it easier. Things have changed so much since the early 1990s.
Anyway, welcome to the forums, and I am glad you enjoy collecting the AFL cards!

As far as NBA basketball cards are concerned, it stopped being possible to collect "everything" in 1996. That's why collectors now specialize as a standard procedure, and why a significant portion of us focus on a single player, team, product or genre.
