mexico trip
so i went to mexico for 4 days and it was pretty different. I found my dad after 15 years. It looked like they were stuck in the 1800's. Houses were not complete, all unfinished brick and block houses. No plaster or paint unless you are rich.... My dads house was very small , they had 10 or so 5 gallon water jugs to fill the water tank (on the roof) to take showers. The gas man needed to be called while he rides down the street to turn the gas on for hot water or else its cold showers(which i took one). I was in a town called Pueblas Tehuacan, south 4 hours from Mexico city.We got off the plane in Mexico city and got a taxi which he drove 120 MPH almost the whole way there.Miles and miles to get there was graffiti on the walls.Police carry their guns in hand. People hold signs to hire hitmen!!! Donkeys carry people on wooden home made seats. The Traffic rules over the pedestrians. This place was C R A Z Y.People sell all kinds of stuff in the middle of the streets for miles and miles..Very poor 3rd world country. We stayed in a nice hotel though for a couple days then stayed at a mariott at the airport the last day. The food was deeelicious! Anyone been to a similar very poor place like this?
ill have some pics up soon

Well, having lived in Mexico City since August, I can relate. Many parts of the nation are still living as if it were the 1800's, you're correct. I laughed at some of this because I know how it feels. I know how it feels to get woken up everyday by a guy screaming "GAAAAASSSSS!!!" I walk by police everyday with loaded shot guns and assault rifles. It's intimidating, but they are there for your protection, I assure you. Pedestrians NEVER have the right away, just like you said. Those people selling stuff along the street, those are called "tianguis." Many people rely on the money there to get food for the week. A lot of the people who live in Mexico are subsistence workers. They make enough to have a living: home, food, clothing, etc. But nothing more. Hope you were able to eat some authentic stuff. The food off the street is usually 10 times better than any food you'll find in a restaurant! Glad you enjoyed your time though, it's great to experience something like this!
