Thank God for Paypal Customer Service
Just thought I'd share my recent Ebay/Paypal horror story;
I was checking my bank account online the other day and noticed that for some reason my checking account was overdrawn and I was now substantially in debt. After further investigation I found the source of the withdrawal to be Paypal. Checking my Paypal account I discovered an $1836 computer purchase on Ebay. I quickly called up Paypal and informed them of the situation. The customer service rep. searched my account and found that another pc purchase, this one for $2300, had been made just minutes ago. He froze my account, cancelled the transactions, helped me change my security information and suggested various other security precautions I should take.
After I hung up with Paypal I shot an email to the seller on ebay informing him not to send the product as the purchase was a scam. I then called my bank and informed them of the situation and requested a replacement debit card. Afterwards I called the three credit companies and had my credit flagged so as to prevent any new accounts being opened in my name.
The morale of the story? Be careful people. Routinely check your bank accounts.
