Predictions? Biggest Bust In the '08 Draft

Anybody have an opinion on who will be the big disappointment in this years draft?

I know Darren McFadden is popular but I have a sneaking feeling that he may be the next big bust. My reasons?

    1) Mike Mayock pointed out that McFadden doesn't break tackles. He commonly goes down on the first hit and commonly gets taken down by arm tackles. He is successful because he makes players miss, but making players miss in college and making them miss in the NFL is like night and day.

    2) Thin below the waist. Has slender receivers legs designed for sprinting and long strides, not the thick-thighed legs of a guy who is durable and drives through defenders.

    3) Was inconsistent in '07. Rushed for 43 yards vs. Auburn, then 110 vs. Ole miss, then 61 vs. Florida Intl., then 321 vs. South Carolina.

Overall I see McFadden as a Reggie Bush type of guy. Successful in college, depends on speed and elusivness to make plays, not a between the tackles runner, could be successful in the right system but if he is needed to be an every-down back he will struggle (just like Bush).

Even though he's not projected to go top 15 or anything of that nature I think Chad Henne will be a bust (crap, I just angered Wolverine fans!). physically and mechanically he doesn't look bad but I question his intangibles which unfortunately is a huge part of playing QB in the NFL.

Besides McFadden, I think Matt Ryan will not necessarily be a bust, but I don't think worthy of being the #1 QB taken. I don't know why, but my gut tells me that either Brohm or Flacco will end up being a better QB in the long run if given the chance.

i say Andre Woodson from Kentucky, because there is not much hype around the qb's this year. he hasn't been very reliable, and doesn't seem, to me at least, ready for the jarring hits of the NFL.

I'm not a very big College football fan, so I can't honestly say I know much about who is coming up in the draft, but I have heard of McFadden, and from what I have seen out of him, he seems like another Reggie Bush.

I agree with McFadden being a bust. Along with the reasons you listed in the first post, he also has issues off the field (fights).

pack9001 - I totally agree. Back in January Ryan was projected to go somewhere between #15 and #25. Now suddenly he is a top 5 pick? I also think Brohm will be the better QB. Both QB's need time to develop but Brohm has the arm to be a gunslinger QB.

    jdio13 - I forgot about the off-field issues. Thanks.
