As a big Emmitt fan in the 90s, I never really appreciated Barry. Its a shame because he was fun to watch. I'm only 25, so I didn't get to see some of the other greats run. But, Barry is hands down the best RB during my lifetime. He should have over 20,000 yards if he didn't retire early.

the statements about barry are absolutely true. being older, it has been a pleasure, joy,and my privelege to watch a lot of the hofer, and non hofer older players. most fans today don't realise that years ago, a lot of players played both ways the whole game. barry had so much class, it was such a pleasure to watch him. whenever he scored, he would hand the ball to an official or just lay it on the ground. looking back, it makes me wonder if he knew any dance moves. just kidding, but barry had more class than any 5 runners today. i lot of us older fans miss him.
for the younger fans that really don't know about him. he played for a team that had no line or blocking back to lead the way, the key words being NO LINE. what he got, he got himself. the lions organization didn't do anything to help him. was it, that they were so STUPID, they didn't know, or didn't care? now a days a running back with no line gets no yardage.

The Lions never helped him, main reason why he retired. And one thing i find amazing, so many people hung on him to tackle him, but he never hurt a knee, or leg.

Wow!!!

I am actually shocked to see a Cowboys fan say that! I spent my entire childhood in the 90's trying to convince anybody who wouldn't listen (mostly Cowboys fans) that Barry was the greatest RB of our time. I can't speak on Jim Brown, OJ or Walter....I was born in '82....but Barry was, and always will be my favorite player!!!
