Coin Flip Gives Jets QB Pennington 'Head' Up In QB Competition

    Associated Press, NFL.com -

QB Chad Pennington led the first-team offense during the Jets' first day of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) Monday, after winning a coin toss between he and challenger QB Kellen Clemens. "It's a competition. It really is," Clemens said. "Some people will try to make it a controversy between Chad and I. It's a friendly competition."

If I was a Jets fan I would be upset to see that Kellen isn't upset...I like to see my players that are my into the starting jobs...not something I would be friendly with...If I was in his shoes I would do anything to be a starter...

Clemens is upset, he obviously wants to start, but he's not going to tell the press that. He doesn't want to rock the boat like TO or Ocho Cinco, he wants to be a good teammate and/or not look like an idiot if he pitches a fit then doesn't get the starting job. I would like to see Kellen get the nod...maybe the coin flip will go his way next time.

I wouldn't read too much into either the coin-flip, or Clemens attitude about not being the starter "right now".
If they decide their starting QB right before the reg-season starts (ala Cleveland) then Jets fans can be disgruntled. Otherwise...it's WAY too early to care.
And I'm sure Clemens does want to be the starter. He's just not going to cry over a meaningless coin-flip when he knows his chance to show what he's got will come.

They didn't hand Pennington the starting job. Clemens has months to prove himself!

not really a Jets fan, but i wouldnt be surprised to see Erik Ainge-not neccessarily started but possibly getting some quality time in the upcoming season..never really been a fan of the often innacurate and not neccessarily strong arm Pennington..Clemens is still semi raw but has potential
