    Fines for flopping

And the bad news for the Spurs continues....lol.

    ---------------

The NBA announced to its teams this week at its annual pre-draft camp that fines will be imposed on players starting next season for clear cases of "flopping," ESPN.com has learned.

The league office has yet to determine exact fine amounts for offending flops and how fines might escalate for repeat offenders, but in-game arena observers and video reviewers will be instructed to report instances of theatrical flopping for potential punishment as part of postgame reports on officiating and other matters.

Is this the Anderson Varejao rule?

Sweet...even though I'm a Cavs fan, I can't stand watching him flop all over the place 20 times a game.

I don't think fines amount to anything. A $10,000 cut out of a $4 million isn't such a big deal for most athletes.

I think the best solution would be, to give a technical foul for flops which are so obvious. This would reduce the amount of whining from the players whose play revolve around flopping, as they would risk ejection for arguing or complaining about a call/non-call.

Good. I can't wait to see this rule engaged. I'm tired of seeing Manu and Tony Parker throwing themselves at the ground in order to get a bulls**t call.

It is not just one team that does it, I think EVERY team does it to an extent. Some(Spurs & Suns) more than others though. This should be pretty interesting to see next year.

I cant wait till this one is in effect, but i agree with demon, it should be someting that can hurt the team durring the game. With a player loosing some pocket change after the fact just isnt enough for me.

yay. only guy in the rockets that flop is scola... and he only been 1 year here. sucks for him, that all these other players took advantage of flopping.

spurs and jazz are gonna have a hard time next season. thank god, jazz need a 10 million fine right now.

still doesn't care of flopping. what if you decide to flop with 45 seconds left, thinking that if you get the call it was worth the money. like in the playoffs. then it still sucks. every team should get like 3 chances per game. they can use a chance for anything. if they thouht they got fouled on a paticular play, they thought someone flopped, etc. but the chance would be have to use on the next dead ball.

also, for every flop it should count as a techinical. like that new season techs rule. get 17, get suspended, every game after that equals one suspension. flopping should count as a technical.

its pretty obvious when someone is flopping. these arent actors (except possibly ''the lebrons''.lol

im very happy for this going into effect, obviously varejo is the biggest and worst flopper in the league. you can put your hand on him as lightly as possible and he'll flop
