serious religious question
Something that has always bothered me is why do churches have tax exempt status? They are one of the biggest money makers in the world and if they were taxed it probably could pay off the National Debt or fund Social Security for years..

churches are not taxed because they are not a profit organization. As such, their employees (like myself) have to pay their own social security (all other employers pay half) and have other restrictions.
All money "earned" by a church come via donations. Should every other individual and organization be taxed on their donations?
